Who We Are
The Uganda Fund is a US public charity, and a registered NGO in Uganda, that makes grants to enterprising community-based groups and local institutions in northern Uganda. The Uganda Fund is run by a small, active, committed Board of Directors. Operations are conducted out of a Gulu office staffed by Ugandans and communications support is provided by a small US-based team. Project Director Florence OcholaFlorence Ochola’s prior work experience and her enthusiasm for the continued recovery in northern Uganda make her a valuable Uganda Fund team member. Ms. Ochola joined the Uganda Fund from Save the Children Uganda where she held various positions since 2002. In her most recent position of Partnership Specialist, she created an overall partnership strategy to address the needs and rights of children in relation to education; HIV/AIDS; livelihood; protection; health and development; and child participation. She helped build partners’ capacity for efficient and effective program delivery and routinely collaborated with government departments and local officials. She has extensive experience in organizational development, peace building, human resource and financial management, and participatory project planning. Pursuing a Masters in organizational leadership and management at the Uganda Christian University, Ms. Ochola received a post-graduate Diploma in planning and management from Gulu University in 2004 and graduated with honors from Makerere University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology in 1996.
